Tigers Read Project
The Clemson University Reading Recovery and Early Literacy Training Center for South Carolina was excited to send home 10 books for Reading Recovery students in Anderson 5, Greenville, Greenwood 50, Oconee, and Pickens School Districts to read and enjoy over the summer. Research indicates that reading skills decline over the summer vacation for some children. One important way to help children improve their reading skills is to encourage them to spend time reading just for fun.
Ten books were sent on behalf of Clemson University’s head football coach, Dabo Swinney and the All In Team Foundation. Coach Swinney believes that reading for fun and enjoyment will help make children better readers. With assistance from Scholastic Books, Dabo and Kathleen Swinney’s All In Team Foundation provided books for 300 children across the upstate of South Carolina.
You can view more about the project in the first video below and also see how the children reacted to receiving the books in the second video.
