How do you help children build reading stamina?
Children need to build their reading “muscles” to be able to read independently for sustained periods of time. Developing goals and working towards them as a community is often a useful step in building this stamina. Once children know what to do (through the overall guidelines set for engaged reading), they can practice doing it for slowly increasing amounts of time.
